ABOUT ME


I have been a full time elementary school teacher since 1978.  From 1980 to 1987 I also taught ESL at Junior High level.  My teaching experience covers Kindergarten to 9th grade, with the exception of 4th.  I also have taught Algebra to High School students in a Math Academy.  

My resume includes studies in Education in both in Mexico and the U.S.

I graduated with a credential to teach elementary school from the Normal Miguel F. Martinez in Monterrey, Mexico in 1978. 

I received a BA in Education from the Escuela Normal Superior de Nuevo Leon in 1982.  

I finished the credits to a MA in Education from the Escuela Superior de Graduados in 1986. 

I obtained a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential, and a MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) from the California State University in Los Angeles in 1991 and 1992.  

Lastly, I obtained the National Board Certification in 2005.

During all these years, I have attended numerous conferences and workshops organized by the WCSD, CTA, and other organizations, and taken diverse classes at college level.

I have occupied different positions in teachers’ associations from both Mexico and the United States. Currently I am a representative at the State Council of the California Teachers Association.  At a national level, I have attended eight National Education Association Representative Assemblies.
